Year 11 &13 Graduation

The Year 11 & 13 graduation took place on Friday 13th June 2014 on the Kisongo campus. The past 2 years has seen the graduations livened up by the BTEC and IGCSE music students, who provide entertainment, between the teachers’ speeches. Some of the key pieces of music were performed by Mercedes, Ray, Juliette, Amanda, Layla, Wilbald and the year 10 and 11 music bands in the songs; Wrecking Ball, Heart a Break, Waiting on the World to Change, African Queen, Mash Up and Sheka Sheka.

The graduates were beautifully dressed and the school paid them tribute in individual speeches for the students. There were approximately 200 people present so the graduates were well supported!

Lea and Chidozie gave a heartwarming speech:

Lea

Welcome to this long awaited graduation. This is the day where we celebrate all the  accomplishments of the past 13 years and I cannot begin to describe the mix of emotion I feel at this very moment, and I’ m sure all my fellow graduates will agree. It is fair to say that these past years have not been easy, in fact, they’ve been full of disappointments, hardships, exhaustion and annoyance. They have also, however, been full of achievements, satisfaction, exhilaration and fun.

Chidozie

I hate the concept of goodbyes because it’s always associated with sadness, regret, fear and nostalgia. But, what is misunderstood is that this is not a goodbye, it’s more of a see you later. Whether, we’d like to admit it or not, we’re linked, we’re one big happy family.  I look at my class mates and I see not the next Obama, Beyonce, Michael Jordan, or Einstein, but the first of our generation. We will create the steps and ideals for people to follow. There’s no doubt we will be great!

To our parents, thank you, not for bringing us to this school, but for introducing us to our extended family.

To our teachers, thank you, not for giving us education, but for showing us that our potential exceeds everything we could ever imagine.

To our fellow students, thank you, not for being our friends, but for giving us the experience of the ups and downs, preparing us for the real world.

And finally, to the Braeburn Year13, graduating class of 2014… WE MADE IT!

Lea

Thank you all for joining us in this celebration, year 13s, go out there, and share what Braeburn has taught us with the world.
